Autolights Stopped Working?
« on: November 25, 2011, 08:54:26 am »
Went out last night, pulled up, switched all engine off etc, head unit and everything really, pulled keys out of ignition so lights came on then put them back in. Anyway sat there for 30 mins max, turned car on and my auto lights didn't come on? Switched them on and all lights were working fine, no bulb out errors etc, so switched car back off, switched lights back to auto, locked car, unlocked it and tried again and it was still the same.

Anyway drove hope with them on, go home, stuck them back onto auto and nothing, locked car went to bed etc, got up this morning and still the same? They have never let me down before could it be a simple fuse? All auto wipers are still working though?

Thanks

Have you got access to VCDS to see if there are any errors as it could be a duff sensor (but that would surprise me)

I don't think it would be a fuse but you could check it (you'd have to look in the manual as to which it is)

Does your coming home/leaving home function work?

Oh and don't get a cheapo VCDS cable. Save and get a proper one.

Usually where the rear view mirror meets the glass. If you look at that portion of the screen on the outside you will have a black square with the sensors viewable inside that.

It would only be the screen part that was dirty not the sensor unless you have had the Screen replaced.

Do you have highline? You can check your convenience settings in there. If not, I'd start with the sensor & work back. Does the headlight selector switch illuminate the auto lights icon when set?

Bugger....I hate people giving me help/advice one day then having grief themselves the next!!

Dunno if it's any help, but I nada similar fault with a BMW of mine a while back and the settings had reset and so it wouldn't switch the lights on....even in auto (this is what I was told by the guy that sorted it anyway???.). Maybe look at the convenience settings as suggested above?

Hello mate, I'm having the same problem as you with no idea what the fault is, but then left my car at my boss house at the weekend and went to pick it up tuesday and battery was dead flat. My mate seems to think that battery could be at fault as it won't hold it's charge going to change it.
