Monzas and road noise
« on: April 13, 2009, 10:28:44 am »
Fitted the Monzas yesterday and went for a drive to make sure there weren't any problems.

Found I had a little more road noise and going over bumps felt 'echoey'.

Anyone found a difference in road noise going from Monzas to different rims, or different rims to Monzas?

I went from Pescaras to Monzas. Tyres were filled to the appropriate pressure. Same tyres (make, model and size) on all rims.

as chungster says it will be the tyres you are getting the road noise from

Both are Michelin Pilot Exaltos, exactly the same tyres!

they all got same tread depth, or is one set fresh the other set well used??

are the wheels balanced properly??  (but then you'd get vibration rather than noise if not)

I bought the Monzas from Nousey. They already had tyres fitted, though probably less mileage than the ones on the Pescaras.

The wheels were already balanced (I didn't get any vibrations).

tyres with more tread can and will make more noise than those with less

If the tyres you've just fitted have a fair bit higher air pressure in them this will also increase road noise.

^^^Tyre pressures were checked once the rims were on the car and they were inflated to the correct pressures.

It could be the mice that live in-between the tyres and wheels!  :signLOL:
