10W-40
« on: December 20, 2011, 02:25:16 pm »
 :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:

Got the 4th year service done. Whilst going to pick up the car, I realised I hadn't asked for 5W-30 Longlife! Too stressed about making sure they didn't wash it (they didn't). Anyway, it's got 10W-40 in it and I know Teutonic_Tamer would be pleased (!).

Can it wait until 6 months and I'll get it flushed through?
Can I still give it some beans?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Did VW do the service. Are you sure its 10W40 not 5W40?

It was listers VW, as recommended by Greeners and a few others. They've been bang on excellent otherwise. Not horrendously fussed but just surprised I didn't ask specifically for 5w-30

It is approved by VW, on the plus side it's dirt cheap compared to Castrol Edge.

I asked the chap and he looked and said 10W-40 and its what they all use on their cars. Will have a proper look later.

The drive home was awesome. The only way I could describe it is like a sex-wee but in your heart. I know I said I loved the DSG but driving the car again was immense. Now doubting whether DSG is all that.
