Can the RNS-510 be modified to play DivX files?

I would sugget you are in the realms of custom firmware there assuming that the hardware was capable.  Due to the significant cost of these units people are loath to take too much risk at the moment.

What a shame... at least the RNS-510 fares better than Porsche's new PCM 3.0 system. Hey ho!

Another thread i dug up, but i thought it was pretty much what i wanted to know. Can anyone tell me if the RNS510 needs DVD's to play movies? I've got some many thousands on my hard drive, but hardly any dvd's. I think i read somewhere that a stand alone DVD player needs the file in the MPEG2 format to play it. Is this true? Also if i do need to burn the files to a dvd disc, does anyone know for sure what formats will definately play on the RNS510? Thanks
