New key/fob £55

Hey, found a guy on eBay who will supply all the bits and program a key/fob for £55
he also says he will active the beep when I lock and unlock, set auto lock after 10 mph and unlock when the key is taken out plus loads more things hes also checking my rns510 and giving me the code to what is wrong all for £15

So all in all that's £70 :)

is this to good to be true or is it the normal price?

I doubt he will be able to do the front part and cut the key blade and supply the remote for £55

If he doesn't know what car you've got how can he know how much the parts and cutting will be?  Round here very few places will touch VW keys and those that do charge a hell of a lot more than £5.  He doesn't mention the immobiliser either.  As I understand it programing the remote to open the doors is relatively straightforward but the immobiliser  is more difficult.

He only does audi and vw,I spoke to him on the phone and he says he's done golf mk5's before. I will wait for him to reply back before I post his name as with him doing it from home don't want him getting in mither.

just post a link to his item, then we can see. if he can do it he will get business. I can't see how he would be able to do newer vw 2007+ unless he has some expensive equipment

I did a bit reading about this a while back as I wanted to replace the tatty keyfob with a new one.

Cutting the blade isn't much hassle but all this will do is unlock the doors and start the ignition. The important bit is the immobiliser chip in the keyfob. To replace this, program it and get the immobiliser to accept it requires software. For earlier cars it may work but after 2007, all immobiliser chips have to be programmed via VW HQ in Germany. Similar to programming the clocks for mileage.

In all honesty, if he could make another key for you, do you not think he could then make a copy of yours? He could then have a duplicate, wait till you went home and then stole your car from under your nose.

And because you had the keys, insurance wouldn't payout.

yep that's defo true it could happen, I think if he does get back to me i will get the blade cut myself. I will be there the whole time he is doing the car he is 65 miles away from where I live so will not say where I'm from if he asks I will tell him some other place :) can he store my codes and other things to use later?
