The ED30's biggest challenge yet..
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:03:26 pm »
Hey  :smiley:

Just made the first couple of steps towards getting a day sorted with a few of my friends.. It will be held at Elvington on the 2 mile straight and go something like this..

Two cars line up, get to around 20mph and go full throttle at a cone and race over the next mile.. The car to cross the line first wins! haha.. Basically the same deal as what the guys on M5-Board.com do, no BS race from 50kph and see how two cars compare!!

All of the races will be filmed from inside one of the cars and its going to be a great chance to show what the Golf can do against some really quick cars and put an end to all of the BS going around about how fast cars like the RS4 and new M3 are when compared to a little old GTI  :wink:

Heres the list of cars that will be attending the day..

* 996 Turbo S X50
* Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
* Ariel Atom 300 SC'd
* BMW E92 M3
* Porsche 997 GT3 RS
* BMW Z4M Coupe
* My GTI  :wink:

Place your bets now!!

Dont really know, I expect around 160ish in mine, not sure about the others, but I guess thats why were doing it lol..

The most interesting part will be to see where each car is strong.. I really think mine will be good upto 90-100mph but then struggle with its lack of power, but we will see!

I think..

Atom
Porsche / Gallardo
Mine / GT3
M3
Z4
APR Stage III TT-RS - 11.37 1/4 mile - 2.82 0-60 MPH

I think your predictions are spot on. Should be an awesome day, are you taking anymore weight out of the car before you compete?

Yeah, it should be down to the target 1075kg by then.. And therefore would be running around 350hp/tonne

I may make it a 3/4 mile run, more of a chance then haha!

Jonny,

Are you using a performance box to measure the increments?

Sounds like a good day.

I agree with your outcome predictions, but think the order would be just in your favour over the GT3 up to 110mph :happy2:
Golf R gone.
