"Every chav" here!

This is one reason why people go for tdpr's. The BBS alloys you have are most likely going to scrub badly on the outer rim with the spacers. Even a 5mm spacer will lower the ET down to 30 and in my opinion that will be too low. Basically you will need a super stretch tyre to get away with it and that would defeat the purpose of having the brakes fitted in the first place.

Why would the tyre need to be stretched with a lower offset

Lower offset pushes the wheels further OUT of the arch. So more likely to scrub on hard cornering or on straights over big dips.

When I just trial fitted the wheel, I used the existing 15mm spacer. The rim was easily sitting 2cm or more outside of the arch.

Feel your pain as the kit never got on with my stock rocco rims when I took the tds off

I'm hanging fire on brakes for Ed35 until I can trial fit

Subtle arch rolling / modifying? Alex has an arch tool

And it works too.  Played with it today on the vRS.

I need 5mm spacers on the front of mine to fit the r8 calipers.  Thats 5mm that I don't have, but I have some sneeky ways to get it to work.

Must be really frustrating  :sad1:

You will get there in the end mate.

Have you asked the guy for a refund on the BBS?

After all they were well below your expectations, and I guess he didn't mention the missing bolt or the crap refurb in the ad?

Hope you get things sorted soon.

Very frustrating. It's so disheartening when you spend large amounts and it goes wrong or the desired outcome ends up costing much more than planned.  :sad1:

I'll just have to punt them on unfortunately. I think the only option is to go for the TD Pro Race 1.2 as I originally planned. I just wanted to try something different. It's so close with these wheels. When they are on the disc flush, they are on the caliper flush too.

But like John said, with another 5mm on a spacer, they really will sit too far out.

Sounds like your wife has taste :notworthy:

Sorry, but I think TDs look awful on most cars, let alone a Polo that looks as fine as yours. It looks amazing with the Monzas IMO.

Like ive said to everyone though. The monzas would stay on if it wasn't for the spacers. :(

15mm spacers when pushing 120mph on the ring won't be fun. At high speed you already get a little vibration.

I do still love TDs personally though. Nathan had a good idea about keeping them for daily use with a little work, and then getting the TDs for track use.
