MK5 R32 MPG ADVICE

A few of  the members on here have MK5 R32's. I've seen a couple for sale that look tidy but the MPG worries me a bit and was wondering if anyone could give me some realistic figures? Would it be comparable to a GTi thats had the REVO stage 1 or is it gonna just drink the petrol station dry?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

there was an ex r32 owner who posted on here a while back, basically he went to pick up his new car in his r32 and got something like 25 mpg there, on the way back in his new GTi he got something like 33 mpg, figures Aran exact as I can't remember for sure but you get the idea ,  also a mate of Mine travels basically the same route to work as me in his r32, I get about 26 mpg, he gets about 19 mpg ( rush hour traffic )

Found the post it was hufcforpromotion , he got 26 I'm the R and 36 in the golf (Editon 30)

Well I filled up the R and got 294 miles to a tankfull...the Edition 30 I can get 350 miles to a tankfull.

Depends what driving you do, motorway or local?

I do local in the ED30 and get low to mid 20's can imagine it being high teens to low 20's in the .:R

It was the mkiv R32 that only did 26 mpg on the run! The MkV R32 I had last year got around 32 mpg on a run and not much different overall compaired with  the edition 30!

if you worry about mpg dont buy a V6

simples  :innocent:

..but, i'm about the same as above, about 300 miles on a tank with mixed driving, ive been driving on mainly backroads and duals (allbeit tourist clogged) and average 28mpg

the cars never seen a motorway, in fact thinking about it it's not even been out of cornwall yet  :grin: got a big trip oop north tomorrow all motorways so can let you know what she achieves although i will be using the cruise

MPG is a bit of a worry as I don't really want a nice car I can't afford to drive!

Been to look at one today in Bradford but it had 'Dodgy' written all over it! :sad:

well Vpower (preferred or something similar) which is a must for a healthy happy .:R is currently over £1 a ltr

got scary when it hit £1.28 a while back, but forget running the cheaper fuels, so budget for that too

I had a manual ED 30 for a year and got an average 27.36mpg over 12,500 miles

So far the R32 (DSG) is returning an average 23.8mpg for exactly the same sort of driving

That should give you an idea of the difference  :happy2:

The R32 mpg certainly suffers around town more than the ED30, and I do a lot of commuting, hence the figures are well down on what you could expect on the open road.
