Toyo R1R vs advan AD08

Hi guys, need 2 new tyres on the Ed30 which is stage 2+
My PS3's are good but they don't handle the power well at all so I'm looking for something thy may do a slightly better Job!

The choices are toyo R1R £161 each or yoko advan AD08 about £140 each

Im after some advice from guys which may have tried them both? Wear rate doesn't matter much but we all like them to last so it would grey if one lasted longer than the other!

not tried either yet but i am going for R1R's myself for summer as best for grip apparently (apart from the 888's) but I think are a bit better in the wet/cold than the 888's but sure Danish/Danza/Hurdy can confirm

Both great, think I'd chose the Yoko myself. Lotus boys love them. Look at Federal 595 RSRs too

yeah heard those federals are great for the money as track/summer tyres, even better than the Hankook variety

I can vouch for the Federals, i love mine and surprisingly good in the wet tbh!

Had the R1R on great tyre which lasted a good 6-7k miles and has the same compound as R888's but comes with more tread and better at dispersing water although wouldnt put them on till at least spring time as in these temps the compound will be rock hard and possibility of failure.

Check load rating on tyre efore ordering!

Where you pricing these at?

Assuming 225/40/18 88W, my concern would be the load rating being 70kg less.  Combined with the extra lateral grip and you could be looking at potentially the sidewall being put under a load close to or even exceeding maximum.  In addition, I would expect insurance to be void in the event of an accident as you have fitted tyres with a load rating lower than specified.

That said I know people have run these for a few thousand miles without issue.

I didn't have both of them but I know some guys running them.
Imho both are great and superior to the Federal, at least the AD08 is better.

Jake/Danish had the R1-R. Shure he'll visit this thread.

If the Yokos are even cheaper I'd go for them!

I know some guys very lucky with the AD08 running on the Ring. Sadly the AD08
isn't available in Germany and has to be purchased in the UK or Poland.

I'm not completely satisfied with the 595 RS-R, Tony. While it feels more stable
and grippy on dry than a R-S2 I had some issues with cracks/crazes on the tread.
It's also very poor on the wet (esp. when cold). So not suitable on a daily driver.

If you have 8x18 wheel with ET48 - ET51 think about going for 235/30 wide tyrers.

The Clutter has T-R1R's on each corner, and it is so so funny, the combination of the Diff and the tyres means it just sticks and sticks, and that is in the winter. 

205/50/15's as well, so fairly cheap fun!

Looks like 88 is common for track tyres load rating of 560kg.  R888 available in 92,

I think it would niggle at me particularly full pelt mid corner

Luckily i've had no treadwear issues with mine so far and found they have exceeded my expectations for wet weather performance on track, don't know if i'd be happy to let the wife use the car through our usual British summer though as i think they may be a handful with standing water etc!
