hpfp fitting trouble

hi just fited my hpfp internals. followe instructions but now car has fault codes. engine managment light on and epc light on. plus car is really slow now. what have i done.

Not sure.  Id take it off again and double check everything as you dont wand to cause any dmage to your engine. What fault codes has it raised?  Might be worth checking you have tightened all the fuel lines up and dont have a leak somewhere.  I changed mine and did not have any fault codes or any issues.

Daft question but it the two electrical plugs been refitted? Was the nut tight enough? I would unplug the battery and recheck you have put it all back together properly if I was you.

just took the engine cover off and found that when i put the cover back on iv snapped the top electricl connection on the hpfp. what a plonker. put it back on. epc light went out. engine managment light still on. power still down. need to get a new one. ayone know what its called. its the elctrical connection on top of the hpfp. snapped it on the hpfp.

Oh dear.  I dont think you can buy that sensor without buying a new pump.

You need a full new hpfp Unfortunatly.

check the for sale section there was a couple of standard pumps forr sale, get one of those and then re-fit ur uprated internals to the pump when it arrives

If its any consolation, you're not the first person to do it. I've seen quite a few hpfps for sale with the top sensor cracked

thats a right pain you gotta buy the whole unit. there is one on ebay for 100 quid. is that a good price. dnt know what they are brand new.

I'm guessing you have fitted an autotech pump and followed the instructions perfectly?

They are written for an A4.

If you are lucky they some very strong glue will hold it all back together.

yeah your right. just fitted autotech instructions and it shows you were to position the top sensor so i put it where it showed. i actually thought it wasnt there when i removed it. but i followed the instrucions. anyway when i put the engine cover on it went snap. should of went with my instinct. oh well sh*t happens

Think I got one from the dealers for £150 with discount. They can be bought for around £120 trade. I sold my old one for £30 ish

They do appear on the forum for around £50-£60 but I suppose time isn't on your side.

I followed the instructions and did this too, damn engine cover!! Luckily I've got a couple of spare pumps. Try pushing it up and use epoxy glue it might just work. You are better off fitting these internals to a new pump anyway.
