pre cat removal

whats the deal with it?is it worth doing ? currently running rtech stage 1 golf gti and been told its worth doing if not looking to fork out 900 quid for down pipes and cat etc to go stage 2.heard it gives u a few more bhp and better mpg.will any local garage be able to do the work?

I did it and its a really good free mod to do. I have now bitten the bullet and my car is currently at BCS having a full turbo back exhaust fitted. I found with the pre cat removed the turbo spooled up quicker and I got more mpg. Its a job that takes about 90 mins on the driveway.
