OEM discs and pads
« on: February 18, 2012, 04:57:00 pm »
I think I need new discs and pads allround fro my 2006 GTi, and I'm probably going to stick with OEM as I'm not going any further than Stage 1.

Does anyone know of any deals in the South for OEM discs and pads? And how much are they at the Stealers?

I'm also considering Ferodo pads as a slight upgrade, having read an old post, so any ideas on price gratefully received.

Thanks,

Ian

Hello bud,

I got a nasty surprise the other day when VW said I
need new pads and discs all round. Wanted to charge me the best part of £600!

Hmmm yeah right...

Euro car parts are still running their January promotion of 25% off all braking
But you have to order them online to get the discount and then you can pick them up.

£225 ish but £168 after discount. Lovely :-)

Mine are going on this afternoon :-)

Might be worth ringing your local TPS?

i needed front pads and discs for the front. Got the usual quotes from the dealers, ECP and local garage. Rang TPS and they had an offer on at the time of 40% off all OEM brake discs and pads.

When you call, ask for a quote and then ask for discount  :happy2:

Defo a TPS store, as I was offered all new discs and pads for well under £200. I only needed the pads so they only cost me £80

Cheers, theres one round the corner from me I've just discovered. Let's hope they'll sell to me, as I think some people have reported they'll only sell to trade.  :happy2:

+1 for Euro Car Parts as well os GSF. Bought some filters from my local ECP on Friday using the 25% discount on servicing parts and saved over £20 on what VW wanted HOWEVER even with the 25% it was cheaper to buy the oil direct from VW.

Fitting front brake disc and pads is pretty straight forward but if you are unsure get a garage to do the job. It's just not worth it.

I bought the parts form eurocarparts for £190 and spent £40 on the tools. Saved a load of money. its a fairly easy job if you follow the guides.

I fit them myself, its not to hard with the guides on the forum.

even if you are not keen on doing it yourself you should buy the parts from eurocarparts or TPS. look out for the discount codes on the forums (can be up to 25%). Get an independent garage to fit the parts, it should be around 2hrs labour. it will probably cost you £300-£350 all in, for pads and discs front and rear.

Massive saving over dealer.

Been on Euro carparts webbo, and they only seem to have 288mm diameter discs or 345mm, I thought these were 312mm for boggo standard on the front?
