Does seem to be some ridiculous threads at mo, like I said initially in the nicest possible way, there is a reason a car has number plates, I'm not going to explain why, to ask a question like this beggars belief, I think TC put it best but maybe some didn't get his sarcasm, this is not rocket science, keep the plate.

Perhaps it shows the lack of respect for the law is increasing , if number plates were not required can you imagine the chaos and law breaking that would go on :innocent:

Lack of respect for the law is a 2 way thing. I still fail to see the reasoning behind the requirement for a front number plate, loads of other countries manage fine and don't seem that lawless without them.  Also motorbikes over here don't have them and I haven't noticed a epidemic of crime committed by motorcyclists. This thread is leaving a nasty taste it almost seems like this forum is becoming elitist ?

So do I, it looks way better. But rules are rules and I'm bummed if I'm running the risk of a fine or worse just for the sake of a number plate.

Perhaps the other countries dont have front facing cash converters (Speed cameras such as Specs or Truvelo which read front plate and issue Police christmas party fund fines)

The police don't make the laws, they enforce them. If you don't agree you need a plate, then complain to your MP. How would you feel if someone was killed by a car and witnesses couldn't ID the car because the plate was missing?

If you're stupid enough to break the law, then at least be prepared to take your punishment like a man. I hope they hit you hard.
Sideways yo!

No different to if they were. Killed by somebody speeding. I'm not grumbling about it, I  accept that if I break the law that I face the appropriate punishment. but fail to see why having a front  number plate is needed on a car when it isn't on a bike,
I know it's because in the olden days they acted like a razor but modern bikes have triple clamps so can mount easily.
And the mk5 does look so much better with no front plate.

Lack of respect fro the law is a 2 way thing ? What do you mean ?

The reasoning for the front number plate is obvious as you may not see the rear one as it crashes into you and knocks you down and drives off !
