GTTDI 170 exhaust on a 140 GTTDi
« on: February 21, 2012, 12:22:13 pm »
Hi guys well after all the advice I have got my hands on a GTTDI 170 exhaust. How easy will this be to fit on my 140 GTTDI. Both came off a 08 car.

How much of the exhaust do you have?  If its complete (turbo back), then afaik it should be a straight swap.  You will need a new rear valance or cut the old one for the exposed tailpipes.

I got the full exhaust from turbo and I have ordered a lower part of the bumper.

I just put the actual back box onto my original centre pipe althought the diameter is different, any exhaust place can fit this with ease.

i been online, and where it splits at the back it chould just change over! and uses the same brackets as the only differance between the back box is the 170 it has protruding pipes where the 140 bends down. ill take pics of the exhaust and fittings and put it on my build trend.

The 140 and 170 have slightly different bore diameters.

Is the 140 not 55mm outer diamater, the 170 is 60mm?

Most exhaust places that can make up exhausts will have reducer sleeves so you can connect the 2 different diameter pipes :)

My sleeve with clamps was about £11 delivered and with a new cutting disc did it in my drive too. Will probably end up welding it rather than keeping clamps.

Thankfully my mate just got a 3.5t ramp so next time I do this kind of thing it'll be less dubious!
