« on: February 22, 2012, 12:58:02 pm »
hi all i have a 55 plate mk5 golf gti and i have the dash display with the line in the middle of it and the displays are the little lights but my friend who drive a 05 plate mk5 gti same spec as mine has the full display with the large picture of the car on it and i was wondering why there different as my car is newer than his but he seems to have the new display and i have the old i was thinking there may have been a problem with it and they changed it and put an old one in it before i bought it or i could be completely wrong either way il be interested to know what the crack is

I have an 07 plate with midline cluster (same as yours).

i'm sure the answer will be revealed shortly but i'm thinking it could be to do with the optional extras the car came from the factory with.

Highline (full screen) display was a factory option on the Mk5 Golf and has nothing to do with the age of the car.

With most VAG cars, it's all about what options are ticked when ordering.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

As above, only a £50 optional extra but ridiculously expensive to retrofit.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

The clusters arent to bad if you import from the USA, biggest problem is finding a breakers yard that will send to the UK :sad1:, i get them, at the moment ive got 3 to get, all different numbers so its a little easier lol

If the OP whats one pm me :happy2:
