Cleaning your buckets

I'm a decorator, and before we use gloss paints we wipe down all the surfaces with Tack Cloths, which pick up every tiny piece of sanding dust for a glass-smooth finish. We also do the same with our paint kettles and trays to ensure no dust can get into the paint.

I have started doing the same with my buckets before I wash my car. You can buy a pack of 10 Prodec tack cloths from Tool Station for a fiver.

TBH because you're using a wash solution, post particles will be suspended in the water. If you use a wash mitt, these particles will be trapped in the mitt rather than rubbed against the paintwork.

Fair comment, but I like to start knowing everything is spotless. These cloths remove stuff that gets missed by simply cleaning and rinsing the buckets.

I use megs APC and a brush to clean the buckets, rinse and then wipe down with a microfibre towel. When I get a chance, I'll try out the tack cloths and see what happens.

They are brilliant, been used by generations of top class decorators, and useful when you want a completely spotless surface.
