Might have to sell my beloved Eddie soon......Reflex Silver, 5 door, DSG, 56k miles, full VWSH Inc DSG, cambelt and water pump  :sad1:

Not 100% yet but will be looking for around £11k as the car will want for nothing and would have been recently serviced and have good tyres all round.....in excellent order apart from the usual stone chips as I'm very careful where I park (yes I'm the guy that parks at the other end of Sainsbury's car park to avoid the car park dents and I don't do curbs!!) as well as regular detailing.

Watch this space!!

Oh......it's an 07 and the private ED30 number plate would be included as goes nice with the car  :happy2:

Whilst I appreciate the OP was after a guide as to what to expect, when I was in the motor trade we had a great expression....

Bought my ED30 a month ago privately.  5 door, red, 39k, 07, full VWSH, just out of warranty (which I have renewed), cambelt done.  Thought I got a good deal - £10,300.  Bought it knowing that it needed DSG service - done (£160), 2 new tyres - done (£260), and brakes all round - to be done (£300).  So, all in all it has cost me approx £11k which I didn't think is bad

Very good car   :driver:

Bargain, where was it advertised?

Its a bit depressing that ED30 prices seem to have fallen. There's a lot of owners out there who think they are worth a couple of grand more than they actually are.

Having purchased mine, hopefully the prices will rise as people realise what a great version of the GTi they are..   :innocent:

To be fair it's not just Edition 30s that are falling in price - I think that it's pretty much all cars (and performance cars in particular) that are suffering.

In January 2011 I put my Z4 Coupe up for sale for £15k ono and I ended up accepting £12.5k for it in January 2012 from a private buyer.

Hit the nail on the head there, I think most people who say "would not let my ED30 go for less than £12.5K" will be owning that car for some time to come! , altho on the plus side of falling values its great to see them being bought and used rather than sitting on forecourts or peoples drives with stupid prices stuck to the screen  :happy2:

ive purposely avoided checking out the current trade in prices of Ed30's, instead of the depression it will inevitably bring, i just appreciate what a great car the Ed30 is, how much i love it, increases my desire to keep her in tip top condition... it fills me with that warm fuzzy feeling!!

if i you are worried about resale values, buy gold bullion instead  :happy2:

It's worth remembering that the current depreciation rate on ED30's is relatively low, especially when compared to depreciation in the 3-4 years from new!  I also think that the ED30 will always be desirable long term due to its rarity so this should help prop values up.  Depreciation is always inevitable but I think the depreciation rates on ED30's will be nowhere near as bad as most other cars.... :happy2:

Oh I dont know, they seem to have dropped about £2000 in the last 9 months, some of that will be natural depreciation, the rest is just the economy.
