You are about to buy a brand new car and you are worried about a few hundred pounds  :rolleye:

The sat nav is a £2k dealer option, I can get them refurbed with a warranty for approx £650, so hardly a few hundred pounds.  :P

i think the reference referred to the Cruise question!  :surprised:

surely with the wife doing low miles and short trips a petrol would be a better option? I thought diesels did not like those sorts of journeys

I have a dilemma with the GTD and an ED35 at present, given the miles I do (40k+ a year) I should really get the GTD and have found a very nicely spec'ed one on a 61 plate in Carbon Grey with lots of options (all the bit I would want like LED Xenon's, sunroof, lux pack etc) which the head says is the way forward, but my heart says get an ED35 for which isn't much more to buy but will cost more in the long run for sure (plus the slippery slope risk is much greater with the ED35  ).

^ Go with the heart.

Have been debating whether to go down the GTD or A3 TDI route for about half a year as I do about 15k a year (not a patch on 40k right enough!) but have put a deposit down on a S3 Sportback instead.  You only live once after all...  :ashamed:

GTD is a great car though, surprised me how nice it was to drive and sounded.

^^^ I see your point, but already having the Mk5 toy which ticks the performance boxes and the Mk2 GTI for everything else the GTD won the day.

Once it's mapped and has a cat back exhaust then I am sure it be a pretty good all rounder.

Plus this way I get to spend some of the money saved on fuel every month on some more crazy mods for the Mk5

This is what I'm optimistic about Steve (but with the A3 170tdi Black Edition in my case).

I would hope to push towards some healthy torque figures and as close to 230hp as sustainable with map, zaust' and intake.

Yep deposit left on it over the phone as the dealer is a fair distance from me.

The spec is 5 Door with DSG in Carbon Grey with Xenon's, Conv Pack, Lux Pack, 18" Charly Shadows, Cruise Control, Sunroof, Leather, RNS-510, Front and Rear Sensors.

Rear camera, Colour Highline Dash, TPMS and Door Warning Lights will all be retro fitted ASAP
