Emblem Part Number Wanted
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:52:06 pm »
Well, after spraying my rear boot handle badge/emblem the same colour as the car...i have changed my mind and want to go back to it being chrome.  i have managed to prise the VW emblem off without breaking any lugs and would like to get one from the dealer.  any idea of the part number folks?  oh...its an 08 car which i believe is referred to as the 3D version.  cheers.

Requires new boot mechanism. Can't get the emblem alone as far as I can tell. Alternatively look for someone who is selling theirs.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

right...oh...i nearly bought some Nitromors to take the paint off but then wondered if it would damage the plastic of the emblem...any suggestions for taking the paint off without ruining the emblem?  it was only put on with rattle cans...a couple of coats.

is this the definitive answer then folks?

if so...anyone recommend either a decent chrome paint that can handle a bit of wear and tear or should I wrap the emblem in carbon 3M?  oh, the car is Reflex Silver btw.  ta.

that's the bit I meant...don't know if I made that clear with other saying it had to be the whole handle.  my car is an 08 and it is the 3D style badge so...i should be able to get this part from the dealers and it just clips on?  briliant...thank you!

Be careful as there is 2 different "3D" badges, there's the later style mk5 3d badge where you have a plastic mechanism and and raised chrome logo that clips in but the chrome surface is flat.

Then you have the mk6 3D badge which is a 2piece like above but the chrome logo is 3D not flat and clips onto the handle.

If its the first one I described I don't think you can. If its like the 2nd one then you can get the part Eddie had put

had a guy yesterday for a RVC camera install.
He took the 3d Badge of the RVC and changed it for his original 3d badge which fitted to a metal base (early 2007 car)
