Hands Free Kit
« on: March 13, 2012, 04:09:00 pm »
I have a hands free kit that i had in my previous car and i am not sure if it will fit in the golf. The golf i have now is a mk5 2005 1.9 TDI and the hands free kit is an Io Play http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2536/3724758312_0555f90d0d.jpg. Not sure what the connections are at the back of the CD player so hopefully someone knows if this will work

It will fit you just need to buy the correct SOT LEAD adapter from halfords or car audio centre there about £15 . Plug and play then , the only other thing you need to is pick an ignition switch feed from a spare connection in the fuse box

good luck finding a SOT lead to work with that!

that cable looks like a quadlock lead however so you may be onto a winner

the only thing you need to locate on that harness is the L/R audio feeds, once you've got those its easy peasy - the VW/Quadlock connector has a dedicated port for telephone - you just get the appropriate plug and wire it into there (the cheapest way to do this is pickup a SOT lead cheap off ebay for 3quid and use the connector off that)

for the ignition switched live simply run a wire across to the top row of fuses in your fuse by the drivers side door

Where abouts are you maybe someone local could have a look and give you a hand fitting , I'm in Hull and have fitted plenty of handsfree kits and would be willing to help if needed

Ok so all that sounds very very difficult and by the sounds of it i wasted money on a hands free kit that i wont be able to use.
I live in chesterfield so abit to far away lol
The connector goes into the back of normal CD players because i had it in my last car plugged into a normal CD player

Hi

dude, it won't be a problem getting that handsfree kit working with your new car! would be a piece of cake

if you could post up pictures of the connectors that'd be a start, you just need 4 wires, L/R for audio and a +/- for power

Autoleads make a SOT lead which makes it plug and play. You plug on into the back of the stereo and one into the original loom leaving 2 standard iso connectors for you to plug your handfree kit into. The only thing you might have to do is extend one of the power cables to the fuse box to get either a switched live or constant live i cant remember which.

this is the one for the altea but it will work
