New computer advice
« on: March 16, 2012, 10:31:24 pm »
Ive now got a broken destop and two lap tops that have thrown the towel in.  I need a new desktop.

I like the idea of an all-in-one setup.  I hate the way i have wires everywhere at the moment. Looking at this from Dell:

Memory: 6144MB 1333 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 [1x2GB + 1x4GB] Memory
Dell KM632 Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
Video Card: 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce®  GT 525M Graphics Card
Hard Drive: 1TB Hard Drive
Microsoft Operating System:  Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64Bit
CD ROM/DVD ROM:  6X Blu-Ray Combo (BluRay read, DVD/CD read & write) Drive
Wireless:  Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230, support Intel® Wireless Display&Bluetooth 3.0HS

Order Information
Inspiron Desktop One 23 Order

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2400S Processor (2.50GHz, 6MB)

Thoughts.  Seems good to me but i literally am a mong with IT.  I only need to surf the net, use microsoft office, Autocad3D, HEVAcomp and AmTech design software.  Dont do gaming.

Thoughts?

They run hotter. Other than that don't know specifics. Go Core iX if you can.

thats my thoughts.  Ive been looking at the i5 core jobbies, but in all honesty that means nothing to me

What would be quicker though

an  i5-2400S (2.50GHz, 6MB)
or  i3-2100 (3.10GHz, 3MB Cache, DC)

I always used ot look at PCs based on the ram and processor speed.  Well out of speed on all of these new processors.  Might nee to buy a computer mag and do a little research on this one

If i go for a normal desktop ill defintiely ask for the dual monitor as it makesmy work much easier.  But with the All in ones the screens are pretty large so i can just split the window when im working
