Dipping the clutch
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:14:51 pm »
Chatting to a bimmer driver, turns out they can have a clutch stop mod which means the biting point is moved so pedal is very close to the floor. Bimmer driver doesn't do this but instead just changes gear by dipping the clutch slightly rather than depressing it fully.

I tried it today and found I could change gear with the clutch depressed only a third of the way down. I always thought a rising biting point meant the clutch was wearing out.

Is it safe to change gear like this? Any consequences on clutch/gearbox as a result?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
