I thoght that when I read it as the Bluemotion GTI with have an aero package for economy and tyres with less rolling resistance and probably start atop technology etc, which is the exact opposite to what you want if buying that type of car

Oh yeah forgot about the bluemotion version mentioned too  :signLOL: kind of a weird combo being a GTI but hunting for higher mpg etc?  :stupid:

Maybe its just for efficiency and help with aero stuff?

Dave

It will probably have a few bits that that new Polo Blue GT (petrol) has , stop start , brake regen , alternator decouple, maybe even cylinder deactivation etc.

217 bhp? If this is real, and it really is 300 kilo's lighter than the MK6, fair play to VW for not just chasing big bhp numbers and concentrating on power to weight ratio.

Fun Golf: 2016 mk7 R DSG 3 door. Work Golf: 2015 mk7 1.4 TSI GT ACT 5 door.
Gone but not forgotten : mk2 Golf GTI 16v, mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, mk5 GTI Storm Developments Stage 1, mk5 GTI Revo Stage 1, BMW 330ci, Skoda Octavia VRS Revo Stage 2, BMW Z4 Sdrive35i.

Bluemotion GTI isn't just an odd combination. It's an oxymoron!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Might be a pea roast, but just been reading this months Car magazine in Morrisons and its comparing the MK7 GTI with 215hp with the new ST and VXR. It also mentions not only will there be a MK7 R with 291bhp but a MK7 RS with the 2.5l engine from the RS3 with 365bhp which is 30BHP more thn an RS3

I hope they do an 'RS' but it would be nice if VW called it something else instead of just copying Audi.  :indifferent:

How about R+, with the plus in red, or RR, or R365, to signify the power? Any other suggestions other than RS?

Its still just speculation at this point though, and IF VW even release it (normally they play it safe, and leave the big power models to Audi these days) then i dont think any of us can guess what it will be called. I would be in line to order one though should it be announced.

I read that section of the mag too, It surprised me how much the border between them have closed the VXR did look really nice inside!

I can't believe people are taking speculation from Car Magazine seriously :signLOL:

Regarding the names, I can't a range topping Golf being called an RS, particularly not when you've got the FRS, Megane RS and RS3.

....Exactly! And that's what worries me because a big downturn in my financial fortunes last year means if I like it I can't afford it  :sad1:
