Detail My Ride - Customised Fabia VRS
« on: April 19, 2012, 09:57:37 pm »
Hi Guys,

Earlier this year we attended Ultimate Dubs alongside Dodo Juice, who had an area on our stand selling products. This year a charity auction was held on the main stage, and we donated a full enhancement detail for a lucky bidder to get their hands on, whilst raising some money for a great cause, which this year was Cancer Research UK!

The car itself has previously been featured in Performance VW, and has had a whole host of work carried out, including a full interior re-trim, air suspension, Milltek exhaust system, Brembo brakes etc. We were glad that such an impressive car had won, and that we would have the pleasure to work on it!

The giveaway was for an enhancement detail, however it turned into more of a correction detail! The car had recently come out of the bodyshop, and there were various areas which had not been finished down properly, scratches, holograms, buffer trails and wet sanding marks were evident across the car.

Due to the time constraints, and wanting to spend extra time on the car there was little time for progress pics, however below are some before shots which give a general idea, and plenty of afters!

Process as follows:

- Wheels cleaned using AS Smart Wheels, vikan/lambswool brushes
- Tyres/arches cleaned using AS G101, vikan brushes
- Citrus pre-wash via foam lance, to remove loose debris/dirt, high pressure rinse
- Bodywork, door shuts etc washed using Dodo Juice Born to be Mild, 2BM and lambswool mitts
- Paintwork corrected using Meguiars MF DA System, some areas receiving several hits to correct sanding marks. Paintwork was then cleansed using Dodo Juice Lime Prime prior by DA prior to waxing.
- Paintwork was waxed using Auto Finesse Spirit.
- Wheels lightly polished by hand, sealed using Mint Rims
- Tyres, plastics and rubbers dressed with Car Pro Perl, glass cleaned, exhaust/chrome polished
- Light interior detail, include mats/carpets clean, fabrics, plastics etc, glass cleaned

How she looked on arrival, just before the rain arrived!

Pulled inside out of the rain...

After shots!

The owner was over the moon as we managed to achieve around a 95% correction in the time we had the car.

Thanks for looking, comments/questions etc welcome!

Nathan & Gaz  :happy2:

Love the finish, though not so sure about the colour scheme!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

 at the colour combo, far to stretched tyres and there's something not quite right about the front bumper. Black headlights would also siut it much better. (My 2p)

It's great to see company's taking an interest in charities, even small, start-up business like yourselves. That's an awesome turnaround of paint/shine condition. Love it.  :happy2: Not really formed an opinion about Air Ride yet. Suppose it makes for easy arch cleaning!

Top job Nath  :happy2: Great to contribute to charitable events.

I'm friends with Lee (Catman) so knew where he was taking it. That'll probably firmly help him win a few more Skoda category awards this season  :drinking:
