Noisy Tarox Pads
« on: April 20, 2012, 01:23:14 pm »
Finally managed to get my set of Cupra brakes installed today at Votex by Mike, who I'd also like to add is a top bloke and would definetly recommend them  :happy2:

Huge difference to stopping power, BUT the squeal it makes when braking from a slow pace (tapping the brake pedal) is awful and so bloody loud! At other paces, e.g. braking from 10mph+ its fine. The brakes were purchased from forum member and have covered around 2000miles. Is this normal for the Tarox pads?

Think the pads are these - >

Video I made when braking....the noise is horrible!

I had those on my old car and they made no noise what so ever.

Did you fit any shims on the back of the pads to stop the squeel?

Don't think so. The pads were already attached to the calipers when I got them. I presume the only way to get around this is to take the pads off and put shims and copper grease on them?

Yes that's what I would do copper grease on the points where the pads contact the carrier and a small amount where the caliper touches the pads ie the piston etc

I had the Tarox Strada pads on my car bought as a package with zero sixty discs fgrom awesome GTI.  Didnt have much extra noise that i can recall, but i do recall the pads being worse than stock.  Brake fade central  :scared:
