From what I've read they're very, very expensive to run.

Isn't that the version that Clarkson said when you press the M Button it becomes that brutal it hoovers small children from the pavement and spits them out the exhaust

I will do some bits and bobs to it  :jumping: I wanted a M3 before but running costs age to costly for me, valve clearance and vanos faults and brakes etc is a big cost, I did check up on the merc and it I cheaper than the M3 from what I've found, I don't expect any performance car to b cheap to run  :popcornsoda:

Valve clearances don't need doing on the e9x m3 to my knowledge, but did on the e46, likewise vanos hasn't been a major issue since the e36, sure some e46s had problems but nothing like as widespread and not heard of any widespread issues on the e9x either.

M3 isn't slower than a C63 on track normally, though it is quicker in a straight line I'd say.

Nurburgring C63: 8:13 E92 M3: 8:05
Top Gear Track M3 is quicker than the C63 Black never mind the normal version

I don't think M3 running costs are as high as you say, no longer have the old inspection 1, inspection 2 stuff like you did on the e46s.

M3 precision tool, c63 sledge hammer, pays your money and take your choice, you wouldn't go far wrong with either  :happy2:

Wouldn't go as far as saying M3 isn't on C63 levels, it definitely is. C63 will be faster acceleration and braking too but everywhere else the M3 will be quicker. Considerably cheaper too. The M3 is a proper tool, C63 is more a weapon. It's your money so your choice. C63 is a beautiful car and I'd love one but I'd poss get an M3 and go Amuse on it :notworthy:

Search Amuse M3 on google

I echo what others have said RE the M3...as with any car if you find yourself a decent indy then maintenance costs are very reasonable! Drive both, see which gets your heart pumping the most, then buy that one immediately  :driver: :driver:

Apart from a track, when are you gonna be able to p use all the extra grunt, as your ed30 will be quicker to a ton than the c63 would be able to get traction!!

I also know 3 people that own them ( all from Southampton FC) and all have said, it's completely bonkers to own, but as they don't have to pay anything of the cars running costs, except fuel, each have said, you need an endless pot of money if you wanted one

Ive just a had a look at the prices of the V10 BMW M5s on autotrader

 :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/bmw/m5/postcode/ng95gx/radius/1500/sort/default/engine-size-cars/5lplus

That is one hell of alot of car for the money.  How reliable and cheap to run are these?

They are fairly reliable if they have been looked after... but as said you wouldnt want one without warranty to start with. My mates was in numerous times with gearbox problems, all thankfully covered. Putting 500+ bhp through anything is going to take its strain. Great fun though with hugging seats and head up display  :driver:
