Shark fin aerial
« on: May 04, 2012, 01:17:26 pm »
I am wondering if anyone has any information on buying and fitting a shark fin aerial really not a fan of standard or the beestings you can buy.
Do I need to go oem or is universal fine and how hard are they to fit not looking for nothing special just something that looks a little more attractive

If you go for shark fin your going to have to retro the second wind screen diversity antenna or get really bad receiption I have left bee sting under the roof linning its not brilliant but i needed gps and mobile phone reception so its a worthwhile trade if you would be better going stubby and save taking the rear of the car to pieces simply for aesthetics.

When you say its not brillient do you mean the reception or the position it has to be placed under the lining?

I'm not major bothad about the radio and I don't have gps sat nav. But mobile phone signal does effect me? How bad would my signal be if I removed the bee sting? What if I changed it for a genuine vw shark fin?

Mobile phone will only affect vw premium bluetooth. Genuine vw sharkfins don't have radio receivers so if you move then you have to fit others or as I said at the start.
