'04 and '06 wheel bearing difference.
« on: May 12, 2012, 01:24:31 pm »
Hi guys. I am looking on eBay for a new front wheel bearing and hub kit but there are listings for the same thing for a 04 mk5 gti and an 06 mk5 gti. What is the difference between these?
Mine is an 05 gti by the way..

Thanks!

There are differences to whether the size is 30mm or 32mm as I came up against the same problem when I thought I had to change the rear bearings recently, even the dealer couldn't tell via ETKA which size my car had, they usually order both sizes to be sure and return the unused ones, maybe the same issue affects the fronts?

The only difference I know of was if it had four spline bolts holding it in or  three spline bolts.

Mine had four, mines a gt sport 140 diesel. Also the original bearing supplier for it was skf, the new bearings I bought from a skoda dealer on eBay, vag now use nsk I think it was a Japanese make I think. Anyway europarts do skf ones cheaper if you use a discount code.
