Ticking driving me mad!.... Clutch related?

Hi all,
Pretty new to the forum, I've an annoying issue with my car gtd140 sport 56 plate.

When cold car drives fine etc.....When the car is warm, I have consistent ticking noise that when idling the car ticks like crazy! The pitch changes when the clutch is depressed or when driven.
The cluch doesn't stick, or slip, but the noise sounds like an belt tensioner.

If the car is switched off and left to cool, the noise goes until it is sufficiently warm again!

I'd appreciate any help.

Ok, so no ideas, I'm thinking it's a clutch and flywheel issue as everybody else has the same issue!!!!
I'm going to sell the car in the next 6 months and move to dsg..... Brave I know, but wifey wants auto!
Im assuming best, read cheapest option for clutch a flywheel euros?
Anybody have any idea on££££

I would check all the rollers on your aux belt system.

Had a similar issue with a Pug HDi in the past and it was a bearing on the alternator pulley causing this noise. Depressing the clutch or adding slight revs got rid of it.

My Golf sometimes makes this ticking noise when really warm, I am going to replace the aux tensioner (and belt) as I think that is the cause.

Thanks, tbh I've been thinking its a tensioner, however nobody can confirm it.

Can anybody advise exactly what the issue is with DMF and clutch? Ie is it noise? Has had a map and no slippage.

When you see comments about the clutch - are they in regard to the clutch-type pulley on the alternator? If this goes then it causes knock on effects, such as a bouncing alt. ternsioner, rumbling which changes when lights/AC put on/off etc.

Ok, this is driving me crazy!
Clutch appears? To be fine. The issues around DMF I dont appear to have.
Done a little research could it be any alternator pulley/tensioner? The noise is as follows.
When warm ticking, if I depress the clutch the pitch changes.
When driving at low rooms, the ticking appears until 1000 rpm.
The noise is only really audible at idle. This isn't due to engine noise.

As I mentioned above have your alternator pulley checked out - I think I have the onset of this problem again, as I get a whirring noise coming from my aux belt at low revs/tickover.

In the HDi I mentioned it was the exact same symptoms, and a bearing inside the alternator was going. Instead of going for a refurb I got a new alternator and it 100% sorted it.

I had this and it was cured ever so slightly by having the alternator pulley changed out...

if you're going to get it changed out by a local mechanic then get an 'INA' branded one fitted - thats the company that manufactures the OEM ones for VW - you'll get it cheaper than you would buying it from the dealer! - also change the belt whilst your in there, they're usually only a few quid
