238 mile tank - Ooooops!
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:52:20 am »

I've been working in the Surrey Hills this week, so dumped all my gear in the van on Monday and took advantage of some cracking twisties for 3 days. Trouble is, I rather hoofed it all week (in a sensible, controlled manner, you understand) resulting in a 238 mile tank.

Anyone done worse (or better ) than that?

Fun Golf: 2016 mk7 R DSG 3 door. Work Golf: 2015 mk7 1.4 TSI GT ACT 5 door.

180miles to a tank on some spirited drives over a week and that was only on 95Ron, so I dread what I would've got with 99ron as it combusts easier lol

Mine will only do 4 laps of the ring to a tank, so empty in around 55 miles
Also did a tank full in 160 miles whilst on the iom last year as I was taking full advantage of the lack of any speed limit, sunny weather and a mostly empty TT course  :driver:

Saying that mine will only do 290-300 to a tank when the wife drives it to work anyway!

Ha! Good effort Nodz! 'Sprited drives' might be a slight understatement there!  :signLOL:

That's insane

At least when I read this I feel a little better knowing I own an oil burner. Even with fuel prices as they are I get just under 300 miles to £40.

Same here Matto!
I use a Bluemotion for the work run : £65 gives me 600 miles  lol
I always fill when the needle is in the last quarter, so I should be able to get an easy 700-750 miles from a single tank! Lol

We did 2 laps of the TT course 5 years back in my mates M3 CSL, he drove the first lap and I drove the second  :happy2:

Yeah was a bitter pill to swallow coming from a 2.0tdi previously!

Even a full day at Oulton park does a tank and a half in and that's only around 170 miles  :surprised:

Most I managed in my ED30 with V-Power on board is 390mpg, worst is 195mpg, didn't  really help on a 644 mile round trip from Sussex to Penzance. Oh well, wasn't bought for fuel economy so can't complain!!

Glad to see everyone driving it as intended!  If you want economy, buy something else, I say.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

The Gti can do everything - here's my personal best for an economy run

14 mile journey started just over 2 hrs since it was warm
