2009 Edition 30 ???

I've seen an edition 30 for sale, 2009 09 plate.
Can this be right ?!

Quite easily.

My car was built mid 2007, but only registered in March 2008, making it a 2008 '08' model. It had been the show model in the dealer's showroom for many months.

There was also some imports for sale in 2009 from one of the car supermarkets, can't remember the name of it.

If it like any car I have purchased they will tell you its 2007 spec but registered Late it may well be on a 08 but built to 07 spec and main dealers know the difference  like colour of the tinted glass  etc . I was shown two BMWs  identical one was built in June one was built after the German Summer break  thats when they start building next years spec one had Paddle shift on the gearbox and grey top tint the other no shift and green top tint built in July and had the 400 price increase.

There is a red Edition 30 near me and that is a 2009/09. I cant say whether its an import or not, just assumed it was a late registered car.

Also not all imports have an alarm system which would make a big difference to insurance

Only means when it was registered, we had the old shape Phaeton in showroom for years and went out as a 11 plate

Build date was late 2008 but not registered until June 2010.
The dealer I bought mine from sold 5 in 3 days.
I think 20 odd were distributed between dealers and all sold within a week.

I guess the lady at VW who dishes out the Edition number will maybe surprise a few people  mine was 2260 and delivered 31st May 08 . could these be in the final 40

garrardrj, Mine is not a ED30 just a GTI. Just posting to show cars can be registered late.
