Issues with Sachs upgraded clutch and new flywheel?
« on: June 28, 2012, 05:23:58 pm »
Hi guys, just after a few opinions on something I have noticed about my Sachs performance clutch and LUK flywheel I recently changed a couple months back. It seems to make quite a lot of noise (rattle sort of noise) when the clutch is up but is quiet when the clutch is depressed. Anyone else have this issue or is the norm? It feels fine but just makes a bit of noise. It's on my 2.0tfsi.

Cheers,
Dan

i was always told you shouldnt mix LUK/Sachs clutch/flywheel etc.... so you ought to fit a sachs clutch with a sachs flyhwheel and likewise with LUK parts...

This might be what it is then. It's quite noisy though, I guess I will just keep an eye on it.  :happy2:

I don't agree with that, I have seen many may people having a LUK Flywheel and Sachs clutch. In fact Sachs have a clutch to fit their own flywheel and a LUK version so obviously they intended it's use with the LUK flywheel.

Sachs clutch and LUK is fine...

As for noise, there is a little clattering but nothing major, quiet as with pedal pressed... Quieter than oem was... Get APS to check if concerned bud... Sure they'd be happy to assist...

Thanks for the info guys, it is completely silent when the clutch is fully depressed. Maybe I'm just being a tad paranoid  :stupid: It was an expensive thing to do and was curious to know whether it is normal, since it drives fine it most likely is just the norm. Thanks again guys  :happy2:

Well I've had mine fitted for nearly 5k and it's not so noisy idling when cold more if I've driven it hard and it's idling when I'm putting it in the garage chatters fairly loud but as soon as I touch the clutch pedal it's quiet.
Just normal though.

I had this on my car, and it was the release bearing, I had it replaced for a new one and the noise disappeared but after a few thousand miles the noise has come back, I think it’s just a common issue, but the clutch still works fine and handles the power fine, I’ve had a sachs clutch running stage 2+ power for about 30K miles with no issues.

I replaced dmf and Sachs kit also the release bearing assembly an it's always done it.

As said above, tis the release bearing matey. They do chatter a little after they have had some abuse. When idling press the clutch down then raise really slowly, usually quietens it down. As for the release bearing
I dont think anyone does an uprated one :happy2:
