OBD Port security vulnerbility..

just noticed this on Piston heads:

was in two minds about posting but i guess the more aware peeps are, the better (plus its in the public domain anyway).

should we, as VW owners be worried????

I think owners of any modern car make should be worried. Clearly these systems are never going to be 100% safe.

Discloks don't really do much, I remember most can be got off pretty quickly. As for poles your giving them reason to come into the house which tbh, I'd rather the car just go than have that

I watched a you tube vid of one taking 10 mins to get it off and noise it made....................

Hide your OBD port. Sometimes we get a car in for tuning where the OBD port has come loose and means you cant plug into it, can take ages removing trim to find it again.

one thing to remember guys is those bmws use blade less keys. our gti's even if they could program the keys they couldn't cut the glad on site

I have a VW and I have VCDS which uses the diagnostic port. To use VCDS I have to put this thing called a key in a hole and turn it first. Wonder why BMW didn't think of that?
