Not getting this;

If the edition30 engine is identical to the GTi apart from the turbo, surley the GTi has the same tunability once you install the bigger turbo ?

Right ???

and miltek do a 3" and 2.5" DP but what is the dia of the oem unit ?

From golfmkv.com forum, ED30 Engine =S3 engine, except for dv location in left drive cars

Not quite true.  Whilst the Ed30 and S3 share the same uprated block and rods, the S3 has much stronger pistons, and more agressive cams - and it is the S3s pistons which are key to it being tunable to 400+ bhp

What are differences in duration on the cams?

Cams on an normally aspirated car usually give the output higher up and give a slightly higher output. Didn't think they made a huge difference generally on turbo cars.
I used to run split duration 276/268 Schricks on my old valver then went to 304 schricks. The power is shifted and increased but you don't get 20-30 bhp increases.

A slight bump to the thread but I found this link quite useful when comparing the different engines: http://www.my-gti.com/546/differences-between-vw-golf-edition-30-vw-golf-pirelli-audi-s3-and-seat-leon-cupra-r-engines

From a manufacturing point of view it just makes you wonder why they would change the gudgeon pin for one GTi engine and not the other, I mean what must be the cost implications - pennies. It does make you wonder whether VW are building these things with longevityy in mind or aftermarket tuners!
