Yesterday I had my AC gas refilled and after it started givin out nice cold air but that was yesterday, today morning when I drive the car and used the AC it was only blowing out hot air, it got to 90 degrees and still no cold air, I went for a abit of shopping and after that when I tried it started blowing cold air,
So my question is should it take so long to bring out cold air? And what is the econ button for?

The auto button when lit keeps the inside of the car at the selected temperature.....engine has to be running for air con to work.

So, when the ECON is off and temp are all low - this is as cold as you can get it.....

Would the AUTO button make it colder?

Do you use the circulation button when the aircon is on?

you say that... but the OP just had his gassed and still takes a while to come in.

i wonder if my (and his) compressor are on the way out and it takes them a while to pump the coolant or something?

when it gets going its nice and cold

Vag12 - did you just top it up, or have it fully vacuumed then completely regassed?

Until recently mine was coldish after a few minutes, after an aircon service it is cold instantly now.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Depends on how hot the car itself is when you start it.

It takes a while to cool down the evaporator before you get cold air coming out. I normally put it on and open the windows for a little while to get the hot air out of the cabin if it's been standing in the sun. If you use recirculate, it should cool down quicker too once the hot air is out of the car as it is re cooling the cooler air inside.

Keep in mind, you are sucking in the hot air under the bonnet when starting up. This needs to be cooled too. Once on the move cooler air starts to flow into there making life easier for the system.
