You have a newEr canbus gateway so you should be fine. No battery drain. I would install fw 3800. I personally don't like the 4xxx firmware as you can't change your route on the navigation whilst driving. You would have to pull over to input a new destination.

im not sure.you can give it a try.

 i normally just copy from my laptop to sd card and then onto the hard drive. never tried copying from hard drive to sd card

That was the easy bit. Its trying to burn it on to disk
