Looking at the pic i would say the debris have blown outwards--if their is no strange noise coming from there it should be ok,

Cheers Andy, that's exactly what the VW Indy said  :happy2:

What do all you guys think about the Zexel (Valeo) Compressors?

I think they come with 6mth warranty from EuroCarParts.

Also ECP are doing CASTROL EDGE 4L for £27  :jumping: (normally £38)

Use discount code OILSPILL30 at checkout  :happy2:

Well, motor climate did say they'd supply the sanden one for 225, I just wouldn't trust them to fit it for sh*t.

Looking at that my-GTI link, I'm quite sure it was the zexel branded ones which were common for failure...

Really up to you how much you want to spend and how quickly you want to get it fixed!

In all honesty, depending on how good your mechanic is I don't think you'll need to change anything else...a good flush of the entire system ought to suffice on the proviso theres no leaks/holes...

What's the warranty on the ECP? And does it have to be fitted by a qualified mechanic etc...air con has to be serviced every 2 years btw...I only learnt this recently too..lol.

That's shockingly bad Monte.  I've had a little more luck thankfully.  Replaced then pressure sensor and had it regassed this morning.  Just got home after a 2 hour drive back from Chester and it was icy cold when I hit my street.

Fixed for me hope you get yours sorted soon.  Whilst poking about the web looking for a compressor myself I found this

http://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/compressor-for-volkswagen-golf-mk5-2.0-fsi-petrol-man-auto-oct-03-to-oct-08-part-14-9698.html

So far as I read it you can get a Sanden compressor for 260.  Worth a phone call at least!

I've found a revised Sanden Px16 for £229 with free delivery

Have a look what these guys say about the Factory fit compressors  :surprised:

They sell the Sanden P16 here...

Would you all recommend flushing the system or will it be ok to just fit the new pump?

Last of all,

Am I ok to still drive the car like it is???

I found that note as well mate a number of people have said to flush the system.  The AC guy I had out confirmed this also if the compressor had possibly introduced some swarf.

I would say your ok to drive it to be honest, Continue to use as normal.  I would get a system flush before fitting the new compressor though or you risk that failing and it costing for another new compressor....

I tried to order one this morning. I phoned to make sure it was the correct one and the guy tried to sell me it for £299 instead of £229

He said he wouldn't sell me the pump on its own and that I needed a TZ filter And a dry unit???? For £70 extra  :surprised:

He said he had disabled the pay online function do people had to call for the info.

Back to the Zexel one then!

Nooooooooo, I think I'm going through the change  :surprised:
The painkillers I'm on everyday give me real bad "Hot Flushes"  :ashamed:
I need AirCon.

Got the new pump at the local Indy.
Having it fitted tmrw.

Does anyone think it's gonna need the whole system flushing?

Hopefully is gonna go nice without a hitch.
