Whats best to do?
« on: August 04, 2012, 10:33:13 am »
Reading through my car file I just noticed it says next service at 107k or 8/12 which ever comes first, so based on date service is now!!! Car service notice on dash says service in 8500 miles so what's best to do? Brake fluid change also needed apparently. Any info welcomed.

Depends when you last had it serviced and if you are on long life servicing or yearly. If you're on long life, then you can potentially go up to 2 years or 20,000 miles before servicing if your display has not already told you to do so. Personally I would say you should go with whatever your car is telling you what to do.

8/12 would be 8th December or did you type it the yankee way round? Or did your yankee app on your yankee device "correct" it for you and you did indeed mean 12th August?

Either way you should be going with the date i believe, the car is basically telling you you aint driving it enough - i have the same problem

Again, as said above, depends when you last had it done. If it was done before you bough it I'd suggest there's no harm in having it done. Especially if you can do it yourself. Gave mine a full service including glow plugs, brake pads and fluid. Worth it for the piece of mind at least.

What I meant was 8 month of this year lol. Car had oil and filter changed only 3k ago so that's fine, plugs etc were changed at 87k and it's on 97 now. Guy before me had service done every 10k or at least ever year all with VW. Reading responses looks like its best i will follow what the car says so another 8k circa which means I can look at getting some monza 18s!!!!!

That's right, listen to your car!  Just be aware that cambelt needs doing every four years.
Go get those 18's, they make all the difference!  :happy2:
