Camshaft replacement - cost?

What sort f price could i be looking at to have the camshaft replaced?

Still get fuelling issues after replacing a perfectly good follower, Thrust sensor and have a horrible feeling it could be the cam.

Sorry I can't help you with the exact cost but IIRC it's around £1000-1500ish.

If your follower was ok when you removed it, the cam should be fine.

Could be the pump?

To be honest mate I'm completely lost......Could be HPFP, LPFP, Camshaft, Fuel Filter.......could be £100 or as you say £1500ish.

Just want a car that drives without issues.......love my GTI but relationship is becoming strained.

for £1500 i'd buy an S3 engine for it, and sell all the working bits of your old engine to make up the cost.

That's what I thought....wouldn't pay that to fix an engine when i can get a better one for the same price.

Had some fuelling issues recently which was traced to fuel pump cam follower, the camshaft lobe was badly scored unfortunately which required replacement too. I paid £640 ish for camshaft, cam follower, new DV and oil change at Volkcraft in Exeter.

Cam follower been changed twice in 20k an both times been in pretty good condition, felt the cam surface and felt smooth as a babies......so unlikely that though bracing myself. Booked into the stealers tomorrow as can;t get hold of any decent local tuners/specialists.

Thinking a sensor as the car was perfect again when i popped out to a mates house......once it's warm it seems to go to limp mode so thinking LPFP or even possible the knackered air intake bracket and hose that keeps coming away - would lack of air or very hot air cause limp mode behaviour???

2.0TFSI cams will be under 500 notes. Then just the labour to swap em over.

Did you have the issue where it won't rev over 3k and the fault code says:

cant remember the fault code, sorry.
The fuel filter is a cheap job to do anyway, will only take you 10mins, worthwhile doing anyway.

Looks very similar to mine. Not sure what to do....get an LPFP and fit myself or take it to a garage as it might be HPFP....

with it being an intermittant fault, you need to just keep driving about continuously datalogging the lpfp and hpfp.
I paid for a hpfp for no reason whatsoever. bear in mind theyre both ~£160 mark.
The garage wont know whether its the lpfp or the hpfp either, without seeing the logs when it goes iffy.
Like I said, another member had the same issues and it was down to the fuel filter.
I'm just trying to advise you from my mistakes.

If you look at my logs, its clear to see the lpfp is struggling, thats what you need to be looking for. it should be running at no less than around 4 bar.
I only found the fauilt by having my laptop plugged in, and driviing around for ages until it reoccured
