Cracked fog light housing
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:43:31 pm »
I had to remove my 05 GTI's drivers side fog light cover to investigate the washer fluid reservoir because it had suddenly dumped its whole load out! Anyway, I traced this to a pipe connection that had come loose, but while I was there I noticed my fog light housing was not in good shape. The outer black plastic part is cracked in several places. Even the black plastic ring around the base of the bulb that fits into the housing has cracks too. I'm guessing this is why that fog light has been misting up in winter the last couple of years. I have patched it all up with duck tape for now and i'm sure it will hold in place fine. However I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues, and how much would the whole housing would cost to replace if I wanted to do that.

Well i'm guessing by the silence that no-one has had any similar problems! Never mind, hopefully my bodge job will keep it in one piece for a while
