Update.....

Nortech are finally ready to take my R in for some GTX30 loving. Booked in for a week on Monday, so now counting the sleeps.

Then it is back to Statllers for some more goodies to be fitted, followed by a final tune and then ready for the show season. :jumpmove:

Sounds good, looks like we both need to sign up to some vmax events as there has been no news on 30-130 :(

Brunters do VMax events. May well do one of those. Still keeping my eyes open for the 30-130 though. :happy2:

This is what Darin has write on MLR..

Hi all,

After last year's 30-130 was postponed until August, I asked RAF Marham if we could also run this year's event later in the year - probably June or July, assuming they had a date available.

I've been in touch with George (who manages the event on the RAF side) a few times since December and they've had a new Station Commander who they wanted to get settled before they hit him with 30-130  and they're also making a number of changes to the base which are taking priority.

Suits me to have it in June, July as March can be very unpredictable weather wise. Plus it means I can run the new motor too..  :jumpmove:

George knows we're waiting for a date/s but I'll contact him again this week and see if he has any news. As soon as I know - you will too!

nice you going 76r and are you building the engine

Initially going with the GTX3067R to see what it is like using it as an alternative to APR's GTX2867R. If it works well Steve may well utilise it as a "Statller Stage 3" kit.
Then the internals may get done if I feel the need for more power. Then I can use 2 turbos and chop one for the other. 3076 for race and 3067 for road. :happy2:

76r will be perfect on road and race :happy2: but have you not considered 71r if your worried 76r will be to laggy for road?

you should definetly have your internals done though i think for peace of mind.. the way my car pulls on only 1.5bar i dont think i would be comfortable running it on a stock bottom end

Cheers Ben! I'll keep a lookout for updates on the 30-130 day.

The stock internals on the R are pretty good, but you are right, for big bhp the engine needs to be built. As ever I just like testing the limits. Statllers Golf ED30 was running 450whp and a shed load of torque when they went to Marham last year and it ran very well. As a daily it was running well over 400whp for over 2 years without issue. APR's stage 3 R is running 420awhp off the shelf on stock internals and injectors and they are happy with the car at that level. A GTX 3067 won't have a hell of a lot more power than the 2867, but should be about the max level for stock internals when ramped up.

Steve has been running his ED30 on stock internals for a long time with the L04XX on and ran it at 500bhp for trackdays and the pistons and rods were ok. This was on a CDL block like mine which is stronger than the normal GTI pistons and rods in the standard GTI. There's now a local S3 running 450+bhp on stock internals too. However I will be doing the pistons and rods eventually and most likely sooner rather than later........assuming I don't sell up and get a MKVII R. :innocent:
