Induction & Milltek questions....
« on: June 04, 2009, 06:21:55 pm »
Got some spare cash that I was going to spend on a remap but I'm thinking maybe I'll get a filter and exhaust first and do the remap later. All the induction I've seen fitted look like the plastic engine cover has had to be removed. Are there any induction kits (other than the Carbonio) available that don't require the cover leaving off or has anyone altered the cover to allow it to stay on?
My other question is to do with how big a difference is there in sound from the resonated/non resonated over the stock exhaust? I want it to be a bit louder than the stock exhaust but not so much that it becomes annoying on the motorway journeys.

Cheers, Chris.

It is possible to chop the OEM cover to make it fit. I had one on my Octavia with my EVOMS.
Not my car, you may recognise the username.

Regarding exhausts you don't say whether cat back or turbo back?
I have written my thoughts on this a few times but res turbo back is my own personal favourite.

Definately the map - turns the GTI into a totally different feeling car.

But - if you're going to add other hardware bits later anyway - then buy a good map from someone like REVO which includes the possibility of a further cheap stage upgrade.

Because if you go for a good turbo back exhaust and decent induction kit later, you will need your stage 1 remap tweeked for the car to behave properly / get the value from it.
