Can a rocco be a family car

I currently have a 5 door gti and the wife has a 5 door 1 series. I've been looking at the mk 6 gti's and they seem expensive when compared to a similar age rocco. My issue is the fact I have a 2 yr old daughter and another due in november. What are people's thought that have a rocco or do I just wait for the right gti?  I know it's subjective but any advice or opinions would be greatly received

Yeah as long as you don't need any more than 4 seats

What about boot space for prams and access getting kids and car seats in the back?

It's not going lot be easy getting in to the back to strap them in, each time, it is hard enough just getting one in. My misses had a 3 door, for the first year and it was a struggle to be honest. I would say just wait for the right car.

I'm not convinced that a Rocco can be a practical family car. Very restricted head height in the back seats obviously isn't a problem for young kids but then any 2/3-door car is going to be a hassle physically leaning in and out while accessing the back seats - You know how heavy a sleeping child is! And they get heavier by the day as they continue growing. Because of bodyshape the boot isn't very big either.

A 5-door GTI is a far more practical family car IMO.

Black - I know some people hate black but I love em
5 door
Manual
18" monza shadows
Would like the following but not a deal breaker
Leather - easier to remove sticky sweets
Bluetooth - not essential as can be retro fit
Sat nav - as above

Know what you mean it sometimes takes less time to back for a holiday abroad!!

....But, depending on the journey (abroad for example), isn't that because mothers typically (particularly first time mothers who follow the text books) tend to greatly overdo what's needed? Generally, most females don't understand how to travel light.

I would wait for the right GTi to come along if I were you, im a ex Roc R owner and have to say it would be totally impractical as a family car, the restricted head room for getting the little ones in the back would drive you nuts in no time.

Nah, she's cool, no 'everything but the kitchen sink' girl. It was more the early days when the buggy had a carry cot attachment. I can't imagine having to deal with all the stuff and another child in a small car. As they get older, it's much easier to cope.

It is great being able to load up the back with a big buggy, the usual stuff that goes along with it and still chuck a week's shopping in the boot. It'll certainly make the regular trips to the house in the South of France a lot easier, the thing is cavernous.... a 5 door GTI may be faster, but this means more room for booze on the return leg!!

i would never have had the rocco if we didn't get the Pirelli more door at the same time, biggest pain in the ar$e from a practicality point of view was its tapered ar$e as the boot aperture is small and sill really high and access to the rear (useless for both our parents), wait for the right GTI

The rocco is tiny in the back... it wouldnt be comfortable for 4 adults, or 2 adults and 2 teenagers...

Sounds like I've got to wait for the right golf but like every of bloke I'm crap at waiting and like a dog with a bone when I get an idea in my head. Only been looking about a week and her in doors is already sick of hearing about it!
