machine polish without claying
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:07:39 pm »
im going to be cleaning a silver pug 307 on the weekend as a favour so didnt want to go mad with claying and iron x, was planning on snowfoam, shampoo and thinking of going over with poorboys white diamond on my da at low speed with a finishing pad? Would this be ok or are there side effects to maching without claying?

cheers

I understand you might not want to ironx/tardis but I'd still clay before machine polishing. You'd be in danger of grinding in any contaminants and creating more swirls.

Nah mate always clay the car before using  DA or rotary polishers ,there's also a lot of people using iron x and tardis as the decontamination stage and completely skipping claying the body work which im not sold on at all

Clay is a poor choice for removing tar. It doesn't remove it so much as push it around and cause more paintwork damage. Use a dedicated tar remover. Even Autoglym have a tar remover so you can pop down to halfrauds and buy it.
