Ipod dock in armrest - "no cdc"
« on: September 06, 2012, 06:26:23 pm »
Trying to help someone at work whose armrest ipod dock doesnt seem to work.
What ive tried so far is puttin their Ipod touch (4th gen? the one with facetime) in the dock and nothing happens either on the ipod or headunit - basic one (rcd300) has mp3 written on it.  Then press the cd button twice and it says 'no cdc'.
Tried my iphone 3g in the same dock again get 'no cdc' but i get a message on the phone saying 'not optimised for this device' or similar and a dismiss button.
Both the iphone and touch work in my golf with rcd500 and glovebox lead.
Any ideas?

When it said this on mine it was bust so I purchased a new one from eBay after checking the connections.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but hope it helps.

It depends how old the dock is mate

the old connection was firewire so connected and charged slightly differently (pins in different places and so on)

but around the gen 4 period Apple changed the connection to a newer more efficient style, but they dont seem to work on the older style connection

sorry its not good news

Does anyone know if a 12v> 5v converter will sort things out?

I've got the same problem with my rcd300.

Does anyone have a link to these cables the change the pin layout of the connector?

Apple used to sell an adapter for this issue but it's no longer on their website. Try searching for "firewire to usb adapter".
