Highline display and cruise control
« on: September 06, 2012, 11:07:07 pm »
I am thinking of fitting cruise gontrol to my '05 gti.  I have the highline display and there's loads of menus etc to change settings . . . .

Will I get any symbols etc lighting up in the display to tell me it's on when the cruise control is fully fitted and coded?

Thanks.

Hi

You will have a green light in the speedo when cruise is activated

your car will probably require the wire

Golfman is in Dundee, and does Cruise retrofits

On the mph speedo, around near like 140mph. Its a green circle with an arrow pointing to it. Have you actually got cruise control? If its not showing, its not working i dont think!

No I don't have cruise control fitted as standard, I was thinking about fitting it myself then getting the coding done or letting vw do the whole job.  Thats why theres no light at present.

I shone a torch around the speedo but I can't see anything, but even the lights I know are there (like the handbrake etc) are very hard to make out.

I just hope that vw fit the symbol for use as an upgrade.

VW will charge around £150 - £250 or may not even be willing to do the retrofit

as I Posted above Golfman does do them and charges around the £100 mark

If you do it yourself the Stalk is around the £60 mark

Your cluster will have a light

Good, thats the symbol I'm hoping to see.

Dundee isn't too far from me, about a 2 1/2 hour drive.  I may well do it myself, I've read the write up and my local revo dealer said he would code if for me.  It depends how lazy I feel

Might be worth just asking your dealer how much it will cost. I was pleasantly surprised when they only wanted £160 all in to retro fit mine. That is cheaper than choosing it as an option on a brand new GTI!  When it's done it will work like it would if it was originally there. The green cruise light that you would have never seen before will be activated when you start using cruise control.
