Fire Extinguisher?

Does anyone have one in their car (for road use, not track)?

Is there any point??

Keep meaning to get a little one for road and track

In the cubby in the right hand side of the boot. Also a torch to hold it in place.
I left it there after a trip to france last summer.

If you catch the fire early enough it might help.

Been looking at this very thing recently after passing a car in flames sitting by the side of the road couple of weeks ago. As above, if your lucky and you can catch it quickly maybe you can save it.

Came across this, in the boot where the first aid kit and triangle belong or under the passenger seat, am going to see If I can get the bits for the under the seat option.

I received a little pouch when I bought my car from Western, and amongst other items it contains a fire extinguisher  you never know...

I had one fitted in the footwell of my Mk 4 gti
I imported the car brand new from Belgium in 1999, I think it is a legal requirement over there,
I never needed it in the 10 years I had the car,
But it had gone off long before then, They have expiry date on them.

Had one in my glovebox for track action, it decided to set itself of on a fast part of anglesey.... Oh how I laughed (along with the rest of the paddock)

So, Make sure it's secure if you bother.  Don't expect a small powder one to do much against an engine fire, given the temperatures involved and the capacity of the extinguisher you won't have much success.  After doing a few fire fighting courses with work I found it shocking how quickly you can empty a large extinguisher and how quickly the fire can re-ignite once hot especially where flammable liquids are concerned.


My plan now involves parking in front of a Marshall post if it goes t!ts up
