So... this has happened a handful of times now and its getting a bit annoying and puzzling.

Coming to the end of a 70-80 min drive on which i didnt drive all that hard (most of it motorway at 80ish on cruise), coming my usual route into cambs there is a little bit of road i normally blast. The car feels very hesitant and there is more intake noise than normal and the DSG gear changes make a much louder pop through the exhaust than usual... almost to the point where it sounds violent.

Got to my drive and revved the car a few times and it sounds a bit like the exhaust is blowing and also its popping away like a backfire.

its done this a few times now as i often make the same journey and it does it in the same place with the same results.

Then the next morning the car feels fine again!? It only seems to give the issue after a long drive.

Some facts....

Ive had the exhaust checked on a ramp and couldnt find anywhere it was blowing (although ive just received new clamps for it so we are going to slacken it all off and move the pipes a bit and re clamp them just to double check everything)

It failed the mot on lambda readings (yet to go back and have it re tested to get the actual readings printed out and see what readings its giving when nice and hot)

I always get pretty crap MPG even when driving sensibly.

Ive got an R-Tech stage1 map, stock air intake, milltek cat back with pre cat delete in oem downpipe, recently changed DV, PCV, cam follower, air intake assembly, n75

Any ideas anyone?

Yes this could affect the running of the car as it adjusts the air-to-fuel ratio
Sig to big.

You checked the hoses at the charcoal cannister for breakage/leaks?
Without traction power is nothing!

I had a problem very much the same,

vcds : engine, output test
intake manifold test it see if it moving in the engine bay, you should hear a clicking noise with a bit of a buzz

then basic settings test code 142 see if its reading error hit on the 3rd box along should go from 10 up to 50?

try that see what happens as a test, then we could narrow it down...

I'm no expert but i have been threw a few problems myself
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Silver is the way !

i did the basic settings on block 142 and it completed the adjustment fine.

took it for a drive and the fault was back.
