Do you trust your missus with the GTI?
« on: October 20, 2012, 02:08:59 pm »
My missus has been asking for ages to drive the GTI, she aint the best of drivers so I have been avoiding her driving it explaining she has her own car and as she is not a named driver on my policy it would be too big a risk for her to drive it 3rd party....

Now however she seems to be determined to start driving it, I must have hyped it up too much...I will put her on policy before I let her drive it but for some reason still find the thought of parting with my keys rather difficult.

Anyone else went through anything similar?

I never did but as of Monday the missus will be using my car for her work for the next 5 weeks until her mini jcw is built.  We managed to sell her old one privately and had to take the cash now rather than risking having to part ex when her new car is delivered.

So my normal 5 miles a week will be 300 for the next 5 weeks :scared:

Yea why not. It's just a car, as long as she's careful & doesn't speed About don't see the harm. Like the saying Go's. U break it u buy it lol

My Mrs drives my car better than I do and I'm happy to admit it.

She is however a semi professional racing driver and is more used to thrashing caterhams and Porsches about up and down the country and blasting through forests when indulging in rallying.

People are more important than metal.  Why not invest in some driver training for her?  To save making it sound too patronising, go with her.  There's plenty on offer out there.  IAM can be a bit old-farty (IMHO, no offence to anyone here and all that), but it's a good place to start and good value.  You could always say it's a way of getting cheaper insurance (which is true).

I have no choice as I am in Afghan for 4 months and I don't want it stuck on the driveway not going anywhere, and I trust her. In fact she has started to enjoy driving it as she used to moan when she was a passenger. Spoke to her the other day and she said it is pretty quick isn't it

Will be even quicker when I get back and hopefully book it in at R-tech for Stage 1 :happy2: :happy2:

Only reason I'll be letting my misses drive mine will be because if she's on the policy she brings my insurance down and gets it cheaper because she works at Adrian flux's insurance.

That is the only reason  :happy2:
