Highline or midline MFD???
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:32:08 am »
Hi All
Quick question regarding the MKD. Just purchased a Ed30 DSG - though it had highline display as it full screen with Aries view of car showing which doors are open etc - I've managed to change the speed warning but cannot find any of the other menus I've seen people taking about on here?
Am I missing something or are is it a midline MFD? Are all full screen displays highline?
Cheers in advance.
Mark

Have you got a multi function steering wheel?

Nope - not yet. Is this the issue?
Will I get the options when the MFSW is added?
Cheers for the response

Sounds like Highline dash but I'm no expert, I added MFSW buttons to my wheel and that then brought the options up to control the menu's on the go. I had to code my wheel though with VCDS and its simpler to add the buttons to a DSG wheel/DSG car otherwise you need a couple of control modules I think.

Cheers for the response - good to know - I have a DSG so will look into getting the steering wheel buttons ASAP.
Is there not a way of accessing the menus with just the stalk?
Read a few guides that explain all the options in the menu but none state how to access the menu in the first place so it must be really simple and not worthy of an explanation?
Also read some midline displays are full screen so maybe his is the issue?
Cheers

You should be able to scroll through the menus using the stalk, that's how my Dad accesses them in his Passat. I've got a MFSW so cannot confirm it.

I had to enable one of the menus using VCDS for it to appear in the list

That's what I thought - I get no menus at all though? Does the engine need to be off to access them maybe?

Sounds like you have highline. As you don't have the MFSW you will (should) have controls on the stalk. You just have to be stationary (engine on or off) to access the setup menu.

Do you have a photo of your setup menu?

hold the "up" button on the stalk for about 5 seconds and the menu should appear. Use the "ok" button on the bottom to select the options.
